About Us
The Latin American Golf Association (LAGA) is based in Stockton, California. The LAGA is a co-ed NCGA Associate Club member which has been in existence since 1982. The LAGA is a social club open to anyone interested in playing golf regardless of ability, race, gender, or age.
LAGA plays golf once a month on Saturdays at challenging golf courses throughout the Stockton, Sacramento, North Central Valley areas. LAGA has 10 - 12 tournaments a year. Golf fees run between $70 - $90 depending on the venue. The format of play is individual “Medal” play, also known as stroke play. Players are divided by flights based on the course handicap with both gross/net winners. There is one team event called the Razzle Dazzle and t h e Club Championship which is held September or October of each year.
LAGA’s yearly membership is $50 for individuals, $25 for family members living in the same household, and $25 for members 18 years and under. LAGA members get a LAGA hat and are eligible for the following:
• Club Championship;
• Match Play;
• Player of the Year;
• Hole-One (Make an Ace on any par 3, win up to $1,000), and
• Eagle contests (Make an eagle on any hole except the par 3s, win $50).
NCGA membership is not requirement to join LAGA. If you want to establish an official NCGA handicap, you must join NCGA. A true playing index will not occur until you have 20 reportable scores and the lowest 8 scores will be used to determine your handicap index. If you do not carry an NCGA handicap, LAGA will establish a playing handicap good for LAGA tournaments only.
• The cost to play golf is what the course charges on weekends. LAGA adds a $5 prize fund as a payout for the gross and net winners of each flight.
• LAGA has 2 – 3 flights, A, B, & C, and are evenly divided by index. The lowest scores for gross & net for each flight are declared the winners. LAGA Info - Page 2 of 2
• There is an optional $10 pool for furthest to the pin on a selected par 3, closest to the pin on all par 3s, and a birdy contest. Make a birdie on any one hole and no one ties it, you win the birdie pool money.
• The closest & furthest to the pin payouts depend on the number of participants.
